Under ominous skies and a marine forecast that looked like sore lower backs and kidneys we made our way for Anacortes as our sights were set on our first Blackmouth derby. With the new Arima Boat finally prepped and ready we left home at 10 am and made decent time to Cap Sante marina.
We had a little snafu on I-5 with the camper back pulling loose from the port side window. But will know not to trailer with the camper back in place. Other than this, the van worked great and the drive was smooth and free if any congestion. I was going through images of the sling launch and it was so easy and dialed as the crew did an excellent job if slinging the boat up and dropping her like a feather in the water. I motored over to our moorage in C dock while Rob did a great job finding a close in parking spot near the sling.
My hope was to get in some fishing time but seeing the whitecaps and bigger boats spraying water got to my better senses and we decided to stay buttoned up and prep out gear for tomorrow. The town of Anacortes is charming and after a nice lunch at Anthony’s, fishermen a meeting under the big tent and great pizza dinner at Village pizza we dozed off at 10 pm for a few hours of shut eye and hopefully some lower winds tomorrow.
