We anticipate this day as it’s been an annual ritual to get out and chase deep toothy creatures with a fly rod. This morning Sean B., and I would accompany Phil K. in the new Surf 17′ CC with big flies in hand and sights set for big tugs.
The drive over to the launch was easy since we had a clear shot with the HOV lanes. We were a little late but Sean B. greeted us and proceeded to launch the boat and motor out. The boat ran smooth and no issues with the Johnson 60. She gets out of the hole and onto plane within seconds and handled the chop, ferry wakes, and crud like a champ.
I figure we logged about 13 miles and burned 6 gallons of fuel. Not bad with 3 anglers and gear.
