Finally was able to scratch out a limit of fish as it’s been slow, slow, slow. I’ve talked to locals that have been fishing it daily since the opener and many of them have gone fishless or have only managed to get 1 last month. Mostly has to do with run timing and the tides.
Where are the Kings? We keep waiting and hoping with some outings resulting in no fish. I picked up a nice 14# buck and a 10# hen today, nice to carve up for the BBQ and smoker.
The fishing has been dismal for me compared to this time last year. We made a couple of trips to Westport to chase King salmon without much success. The most recent trip last month out a couple of coho and one small feeder king aboard but left me longing for more action. We covered some serious mileage and time spent on the high seas burning a lot of fuel both in the van and on the boat.
I am however very pleased with the Sea Ranger. She continues to impress with how flexible she can be for a fishing and family vessel. We’ve gone camping, crabbing, trolling, jigging, cruising, exploring during this amazing summer that has brought sunshine and warm temps.
