We had limited options to fish today since the goal was to get out and fish for a few hours. The tides were right for chum and another watershed was still high and discolored.
The next option was to explore a new section of river and would require lots of hiking, wading and searching. Often steelhead is about good timing and it was been a pretty horrible season for salmon and steel.
The fishing was so poor we couldn’t even raise a bull trout or even a single whitefish. I did pickup a couple of small trout and two very large chums on the 6 wt. however want what we were targeting.
Sometimes taking the new guy out involves a learning curve, but at least got to explore some new to me water and spots that are normally not accessible. Some nice scenery and gin clear water, just devoid of steelhead, coho, just some staging chum on their redds.
