Headed back to the creek today. I invited Mike E. to meet me for a little introduction and some probing of the runs. While the sun was shining and the river was in perfect shape evidence of fish were pretty low.
I did sight a very bright winter run holding near the spillway in a classic run behind a Boulder. I made a few casts, most likely spooked or lined him and he turned and no longer was visible.
I left after a few hours, but Mike stayed and kept fishing mid river. He later said he had one on about an 8# fish, bright and hot. It popped off as it turned and headed downstream.
At least we saw some signs of life, but nothing to hand, even a trout. I’ll probably hold off on returning until we get some more rains and a bigger push of fish, although my expectations are low.
