There was an Indian crabbing boat picking up pots along with a Proline cc with two anglers working the bottom with live dab. They did end up with a 26″ ling as verified by Jeff the fish checker back at the boat launch.
We moved locations to another reef and worked that methodically with only two small rockfish to show for the efforts. We also witnessed a pod of orcas crossing through along with a few harbor porpoise and a watchful golden eagle.
Perhaps it was the big tide swing, or the barometer that threw off the feeding clock. Still a bad day fishing is better than a great day at work.
I’ll wait it out a few days and fish up north next time as I need to explore some water that hadn’t been hit so hard.
