We launched today under a beautiful calm seas and amazing sunrise against the backdrop of the Seattle skyline to the east as viewed from Don Armeni boat ramp in West seattle.
While our target was to find some ling cod the black bass couldn’t stay off our presentations. We had some nice fish up to several pounds on our 10wt rods which were doubled over at times peeling off line.
This one was a but camera shy.
Jeff and I ended up with 8 doubles. When one rockfish is hooked there are likely others in the school and a well presented fly will tease up other curious and or hungry fish ambushing a bait ball. All these fish were health and strong Tonka trucks.
Its nice to see a healthy rockfish population but where are the ling cod? All the waypoints are markings of the reef where structure and fish were noted.
We had one of the best days with the bass while looking for Ling cod. A perfect flat calm morning which led to a little wind from the NW that helped our presentation and drifts as we passed over the reef.
