We found a few willing fish in 40′ of water down south. Left the downriggers at home and used a Deep 6 planer and coho killers. Nice chrome fish that will be great for the smoker!
To last weekend of the pool, might as well get the best of it while it’s still warm!
While it was a short and obscure season due to the closure of the coho fishery in all of Puget Sound and most of the ocean. We made lemonade out of what we had to work with in area 12 (hood canal). Maybe next year I’ll have more success with tuna and now that I have know what to expect with the halibut and deep ling cod fishing I’ll be ready for 2017.
As the summer season winds down I’ll be looking forward to winter crab and clams and learning mid channel bank near Port Townsend. It’s just a 40 minute run with good weather.
